Programme overview
The challenge and our response
Access to justice is the foundation of a fair and democratic society. Yet many South Sudanese — particularly women, children, persons with disabilities, internally displaced persons, refugees, returnees, detainees, and low-income households — face significant legal, financial, geographical and institutional barriers to justice.
The Access to Justice and Legal Aid Programme seeks to bridge this gap by providing accessible, affordable, timely, and high-quality legal services to individuals and communities who would otherwise be unable to protect or enforce their rights.
The programme also promotes the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms, including mediation and negotiation, to resolve disputes efficiently and peacefully while reducing unnecessary litigation and court congestion.
